A few days have passed since the the rumors began to swirl about Karrigan leaving FaZe and seemingly being in line to take over the IGL role for Team Falcons before the upcoming Cologne Major in June. It was a whirlwind of a few days for Falcons fans, who watched the likes of NiKo, m0nesy, TeSeS, Kyousuke and Kyxsan reach the semi-finals of IEM Rio 2026 on a crash course against Team Vitality only to faulter at the hands of Donk and Team Spirit in the semi-finals. Then NiKo confirms their are likely to be changes within the team and less than 48 hours later Kxysan is on the way out.

What does this really mean for Falcons? In my opinion, there's a lot riding on this move for all parties involved. Karrigan moves away from FaZe after 2,600 days on that team. Amassing a Major, Grand Slam and plenty of other 1st and 2nd place finishes in that time. Everyone knows about the recent struggles though. Not everything can and should be blamed on Karrigan though. The oldest player in Counter-Strike esports currently has had a tough time fragging as of late but his calls should be seen as a definite upgrade compared to Kxysan. There's always a balance with these things.

Meanwhile Kxysan gets an opportunity to mentally reset for a few months, let the major pass by and hopefully find a home somewhere for the second half of 2026. I like Kxysan, he's smart and still up and coming as an IGL. I think a lot of his success came from some hot hands though. His time on Apeks seemed like a flash in the pan with the true birth of jL behind him and his supporting cast of nawwk, STYKO and jkaem keeping up the pace. He also benefited greatly from the former HEROIC core of TeSeS, sjuush, NertZ and degster punching up a weight class against teams in Shanghai back in 2024. The success couldn't be kept up during his Falcons tenure but I think a change of scenery should do him well.

The real individual in trouble here is Zonic. He's been given time, money, and all the players he really could ask for to make Falcons a true fighting force in CS and yet...only one trophy from Bucharest back in 2025. If Karrigan doesn't solve their problems it might be time for a philosophy and coaching change in the organization.

I really do like the Falcons. They have a lot of players who are close to my heart as a CS fan. NiKo and m0nesy are wildly entertaining, TeSeS was apart of my favourite and first CS core I cared about on HEROIC and Karrigan is a joy to watch. I would love to see them win a major despite the fact they bought all these players. Time will tell and assuming Karrigan makes his debut at PGL Astana in 3 weeks time, I will be watching all their matches diligently.
